Our Story
We are retired teachers building a small farm in rural Maine. When we relocated from a more suburban area we brought our small herd of five Shetland sheep, and a Jacob/Merino. We quickly added 6 yaks, multitudinous chickens and guinea fowls the first summer here, along with two pigs, and more sheep! The new additions to our fiber flock include Finns, Icelandic's, and several cormos.

As a small-scale farm, we know each of our animals and their unique personalities and needs. Our goal at Yak Hill Farm is to raise healthy, happy animals while producing the highest quality fiber in our area!

Follow us on social media for stories of animal antics!

As we grow our Yak herd we hope to add their fiber to our offerings- keep an eye out!

Yak Hill carries bare root stock, and potted plants that are available at the farm. We sell trees, plants, cuttings, and roots, specializing in fruit and nut trees, berry bushes, perennials, and natives. We follow Permaculture and no-till practices.

All of our plants are grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. We are pleased to raise our young plants and trees in living soil using compost, wood chips, and wool skirtings.
